The Emmys: Part V - Variety Series and Specials

You may be asking what I'm writing about after reading the title... Check out my previous blog entries regarding The Emmys to find out!

It's time for the categories dedicated to variety series and specials...

Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series

  • Late Show with David Letterman
  • Real Time with Bill Maher
  • Saturday Night Live
  • The Colbert Report
  • The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
I'm not avid watchers of any of these shows. In fact, I've never seen Real Time with Bill Maher. If I had to choose one, which I do for the sake of this blog entry, I'd probably go with Saturday Night Live. It's still very funny, and the cast members are extremely talented.

Who Should Win: Saturday Night Live
Last Year's Winner: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Special
  • Chris Rock: Kill The Messenger
  • Kathy Griffin: She'll Cut a Bitch
  • Ricky Gervais: Out of England - The Stand-Up Special
  • The Kennedy Center Honors
  • Will Ferrell: You're Welcome, America: A Final Night with George W. Bush
I've only seen Kathy Griffin: She'll Cut a Bitch, which was absolutely hysterical. I'm really pulling for her to win because she's a talented comedienne who deserves all of the accolades that she's received. Plus, her show, Kathy Griffin: My Life on The D. List, is one of my faves! (I must say, too, that I love Will Ferrell. Unfortunately, I don't get HBO, so I haven't seen his special, which, I'm sure, is hilarious!)

Who Should Win: Kathy Griffin: She'll Cut a Bitch
Last Year's Winner: Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project

Well... There you have it! Five blog entries dedicated to The Emmys... I can't wait to watch 'em and see how I did with my choices.

Thanks for reading!
